Rainy day rant…

Filed under: Uncategorized —— mreye @ 4:17 pm

This is a stream of conciousness entry…I’m bored…it’s raining…I’d rather be home relaxing then held captive in a coffeeshop waiting to attend yet another meeting…my life is too busy…I sure wish I could slow down…take a break…be something to me instead of everyone else…I teach…I teach…I teach some more…meetings…meetings…more meetings…I drove 500 miles this weekend for a 4 hour meeting…why? I’m not sure…I have a meeting tonight…why…I’m not sure…I had a meeting yesterday where all I did was sit and listen…why? I love listening to people insert their “feet” into their mouths…the English language is wonderful to listen to…I’m not sure that there is any other language where someone can talk for 15 minutes and say ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL!! It fascinates me to sit and just listen…I sure wish I could be out running with my dog right now…we went for a walk this morning at 4:30 in the morning…me and Thor alone with our thoughts focused on our walk…well…it’s about time to get to my meeting…a meeting that I thought I had to attend last week…there I was sitting there all by myself wondering why all of these idiots weren’t there when I realized…YOU’RE THE IDIOT…the meeting is next Tuesday not today…see what I mean…I’m all things to all people and nothing to myself!!! My coffee’s getting cold…that sucks!!! I need to go…but I don’t want to…wait…I take that back I do…just not to the meeting…I want to go home!!! Why do I do all these things…Red Pig…what the hell’s a Red Pig? Confused yet? Good!!

Well…..sounds like you’ve been having an absolutely wonderful week….and it’s only Tuesday! I know what you mean though, about listening to people ramble on and on and not getting a thing out of it….(i’m not talking about you though)….take biology for instance though…..he just talks and talks and I end up leaving more confused than when I came in. Anyways, at least you get a break this week and we don’t have to meet…..that will free up an hour or two for you! See you tomorrow!

Thanks for seeing the real message here Rachel…I was hoping to hear from you!! I’m looking forward to getting your reflection and reading it!!

Red pig…yep totally confused! Yellow cow! take that! haha. yeah so I still dont know what red pig means but I thought it would be funny to choose a color and pair it with another barnyard animal. As far as poeple continuously talking with nothing to say, I couldn’t have said it better myself. I also hate my biology course. Ask me what he said…everything. Ask me what he taught…nothing. The class is totally pointless. Hope everyone is having a good week and a good week off…I know I am.

Thanks for responding Jessie…this post was merely my attempt to vent some of the frustrations I’m having as of late…writing is a powerful tool and I felt a lot better after posting this. No need to fear…I’m not going crazy…just overworked and underappreciated…I’ll get over it!!! The Red Pig comes from a phrase I saw in the coffeeshop yesterday as I was finishing my rant…interesting how you took it. I wonder how many other animals we could add to the “color farm” if we tried…here’s one…

Pink Billy Goat!!!! Now we have a Red Pig, Yellow Cow and a Pink Billy Goat. Anyone else want to add an animal??

I believe I once told you that my family was very animal oriented. We save them and foster them…we even own a farm. Well I was trying to think of another animal when I remembered… Yesterday I got off work around 8:00 and drove back home to use the computer because things like printing and laundry are free there. I showed up around 9:30 and proceeded to walk through the door. When you enter our front door you enter our kitchen and the first corner you cut to the right is the den. The first thing I saw was my dad sitting on the couch with his favorite chicken…(it’s like his baby…I know its weird, I live with it). Normally I expect this craziness but what topped it all off is that my brother and sister had used colored hairspray..the kind for halloween… and sprayed the chicken. The previously white chicken (which I’m sure was a great canvas just hard to catch) was now a satin black with every color glitter you can imagine. It kind of reminded me of a disco ball. I thought it was funny and that sharing would make everyone laugh.

Ha….that’s quite interesting about Jessie’s dad and the chicken. It just so happens that my dad has a few chickens of his own. He’s not a farmer….he just one day decided that he wanted his own chickens. At that same time, he decided that he wanted to make his own maple syrup too (He lives in Cleveland, Ohio so pure maple syrup is pretty much a big deal up there). Anyways, he has this one little black hen….and all the roosters chase after her. At some times, she has no feathers left on her back or rear because they are a little rough with her! Well when the roosters are bothering her, she comes and sits on my dad’s lap. She will eat out of his hand and drink out of his coffee cup….it’s really strange but quite funny though. It’s really funny when the Altell guy comes out to fix the phone line and my dad has to chase the roosters to get them to stop attacking him! I love it! Just thought I’d share…..

  9.   Tony Says:

That is hilarious Rachel…thanks so much for sharing!!! What a great visual I’m getting of the Altell guy and the roosters running around with your dad trying to maintain chaos…I mean order!!!

Lacy…thanks for seeing through all the clutter of my crazy rant…you know me well!!!

this is so funny… I love it… why?… becuase this is exactly how i think this is my exact thought process and if you were to read through my journal/diary (which is private, and nobody has so i doubt that you will) it would look exactly like that… when i read things like this from a teacher or talk on a normal basis with a teacher it makes them seem more real life. Like you… I don’t think of you as living at the school, breathing school, being one with the school, I see you as a real person… I know im not the only one but when in high school and you saw a teacher at the grocery store in jeans and a tee and they said hey , you are kind of taken aback wondering, “who is that”, and then you kind of freak out cuz you havethe thought in your head, “woah they’re just like me.”

I can imagine you at the grocery store or having a vacation, or any sort of normal thing like that… you do do that don’t you? jk :)

Ps- JESSIE IS HILARIOUS… what stories lol… :)

Pss- I need rain boots… In colorado rain isn’t that big of deal, here it has no where to drain and i have to wear shorts just so that my jeans don’t get soaked…. I NEED RAINBOOTS

  11.   Tony Says:

Thanks for the kind thoughts Jasmine…I too am glad I posted this entry…I wasn’t sure how you’d all take it at first…I was very hesitant before I submitted it…having said that…I do grocery shop…wear jeans
and tye-dye shirts…jam on my iPod…however…I don’t take enough vacation time…I think that’s why I’m so FREAKED OUT right now…having said that…it’s 3pm…time to go home and walk my dog!! Good luck finding the right pair of rainboots!!!

I don’t know if this has just been a blah week or what but I think everyone has sort of been in a bummer mood. It sounds like you need a good, relaxing vacation!
I enjoyed reading everyones funny animal stories. My dad used to have a pet chicken as well…I am seeing a trend here! I never had the normal pets growing up..we had chickens, ducks, and fainting goats (which are hilarious, by the way). When they got scared/startled, their back legs would stiffen up and they would fall over. Sometimes we would try to scare them but nothing would work and you would do something like simple like scratcing your head and they would just topple over! Just thought I’d share my strange animal story…have a great weekend!

  13.   Mr. Eye Says:

This is getting waaaay too funny! Another chicken story!! I feel like I’m the odd ball now…we never had cool pets like “you all.” I’m so glad you posted Laura…my “crappy” day post has really turned into something that we can all relate to on some level and it’s been so fun writing with all of you through this post…I hope you have a great weekend too!! Mine has gotten off to a great start…got home early, walked my dog on a beautiful fall day and went to dinner to connect with my wife…all is well!!!
